These octopus like creatures from the southern deserts are no relation to octopus but are often mistaken for them due to their many tentacles covered in suckers. They will graze harmlessly on the salt in mammalian skin, so long as the mammal remains still. Violent movements will alarm the creature however causing it to wrap its tentacles tightly around the mammal’s body while gnawing the body with a beak-like mouth.
