These are a number of small rivers which run into the north east Inland Sea. They are all sourced in a small range of steep stony hills east of the Inland Sea. It is no known how the rivers got their name. However, it is thought that it has something to do with their source. For underneath the hills are buried the Mansions of Ut-Napishtim, the prophet who apparently caused the sinking of the land to create the Inland Sea, and in so doing caused the death of many people.
