To the north of the Wastes the ash plains peter out into a barren sandy heath dotted with ruined towers walls and other military constructions. To the east of here are the Battlegrounds were Brendan Bloodaxe defeated the armies of Chaos. There are spell casters who would seek to resurrect the dead armies buried under the Battlegrounds. It is a pleasant area of grassland but here and there are bare patches were nothing grows and which animals will not cross. It is said that these are the places where the dead warriors of Chaos are buried, their spirits wandering the plains howling out for resurrection.
